Why Fels Retreat?
Fels Retreat Lodge is a guesthouse on the farm Scheepersrust, only 6km from Paulpietersburg.
Fels was originally a Catholic Mission with a monastery, chapel and other outside buildings. The transformation into Fels Retreat as a venue for various occasions started in 2000.
- Fels Retreat features a chapel and a thatch-roofed hall with seating for up to 150 guests. The hall has a bar counter and fridge.
- Fels Retreat is also ideal for conferences with seating for up to 60 people.
- Activities such as hiking, biking and fishing and even practising your golf shots can be enjoyed here. Please bring along your own equipment to partake in these activities.
With a spectacular view over tree plantations and of mountain ranges on the horizon, this retreat is a perfect countryside B&B and venue for:

The units all have a private entrance and is equipped with single or double beds. Rooms all feature a private bathroom with bath and shower, or shower only.
Some rooms are equipped with a fridge, microwave, coffee and tee making facilities and a TV with DSTV.
Superior Room
Spacious rooms with wooden floors, in the main building.
Standard Plus Rooms
These are medium-sized rooms.
Standard Rooms
These rooms are smaller and some are not equipped with TVs.
Self-Catering
Fully equipped self-catering units.
Dorm/Backpackers
Large room with 6 beds and a bathroom.

Pitch your own tent, showers with hot water.

What a fantastic place to stay. Our room was comfortable with en-suite shower and toilet, hot water and towels provided. Rooms were serviced and kept clean. Great atmosphere and large open lawns for activities. Horses, dogs, a tame lamb and a cat all added to the homely feel of Fels Retreat. Sarina always on hand to attend to requests – she even had a pair of water pump pliers handy when I needed one! Highly recommended, and I will definitely be returning there again, probably in December.
I had a team of 5 that worked in the area and found Fels Retreat perfectly located. They were very accommodating in the change of our program. I would recommend this to anyone visiting the area either for work or just an easy get away.
Baie dankie tannie vir die gasvryheid en ook aan al die diere wat ons so mooi verwelkom het. Ons het die tydjie daar so baie geniet, die rustigheid weg van die stad af. Ons hoop om gou weer terug te kom.
Ons het dit baie geniet om hier te bly, baie oulike gasvrou, sy dra die belange van haar kliënte op die hart. Kan dit vir enige iemand aanbeveel.
Dis my tweede keer dat ek daar oornag en ek sal definitief dit weer doen. Ek voel altyd welkom en dis ‘n heerlike plek om te oornag van Richardsbaai na Gauteng.
